The 21 Day Promise.

Sharing the gospel is exciting but sometimes a little nerve wracking..

For the most part I found on my mission that members weren't really sure how to start doing missionary work.

It was while I was serving in Fredericton, New Brunswick that I was introduced to a promise made by Elder Robert E. Wells (of the quorum of the seventy).

He promised that if you were to make a list of 8 names (both non-member and less active) and pray for them both day and night, while making an extra commitment to follow the commandments of God, that within 21 days at least one would be ready to come back to church or meet with the missionaries.

As you follow the steps outlined in the promise the spirit will guide you in how to reach out and share with these people.

This promise is dependant on the participants faith.

"Nevertheless the children of God were commanded that they should gather themselves together oft, and join in fasting and mighty prayer in behalf of the welfare of the souls of those who knew not God."
-Alma 6:6

I know that this promise has been fulfilled many times. I saw it come to pass in the lives of many members in New Brunswick and I have also seen it work miracles in my own efforts to share the gospel with those I love.

I invite each of you to exercise your faith. As you follow the instructions and agree to "the promise" you WILL find great joy in missionary work.

May we all do our part in hastening the work of salvation.

Reminders.

Do you ever wonder why repetition is so important?

I am really forgetful.

I know that God loves me. I know that I am never alone. I know that I can be forgiven of my sins through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. I know that obedience brings blessings. I know that I will regret eating an entire cake by myself.

But sometimes.. I forget.

We know these truths to be true but sometimes we lose sight of them when we are caught up in the craziness of everyday life.

"And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O REMEMBER, REMEMBER that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it."
-Mosiah 2:4

Here are a few quotes from President Dieter F. Uchtdorf that I love to review, these are doctrines we shouldn't forget.

• Do you suppose it matters to our Heavenly Father whether your makeup, clothes, hair, and nails are perfect? Do you think your value to Him changes based on how many followers you have on Instagram or Pinterest? Do you think He wants you to worry or get depressed if some un-friend or un-follow you on Facebook or Twitter? Do you think outward attractiveness, your dress size, or popularity make the slightest difference in your worth to the One who created the universe? He loves you not only for who you are this very day but also for the person of glory and light you have the potential and the desire to become.

• There may be some among you who feel darkness encroaching upon you. You may feel burdened by worry, fear, or doubt. To you and to all of us, I repeat a wonderful and certain truth: God’s light is real. It is available to all! It gives life to all things. It has the power to soften the sting of the deepest wound. It can be a healing balm for the loneliness and sickness of our souls. In the furrows of despair, it can plant the seeds of a brighter hope. It can enlighten the deepest valleys of sorrow. It can illuminate the path before us and lead us through the darkest night into the promise of a new dawn.

I hope each of you remember how precious you are in the sight of God.

Women of God.

To start I thought I would post a link to the talk that inspired this blog.

I feel that it is important to share my testimony.

So on this blog I will post scriptures, talks, quotes, and my own personal thoughts.

My goal is to share what matters most to me.
